eMentorship Program for Women in Management Track IT

In 2009, the CIO Association National Board voted to mount an eMentorship program for women in management track IT. This initiative was intended to address the low proportion of women in IT Management ranks. A joint committee of representatives from CIOCAN and CATA WIT (CATA Alliance Women in IT) was formed in December 2009 to plan the program, a partnership and pilot program for Ontario was announced in February 2010, and the launch event took place March 22, 2010 at Toronto's Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Ted Rogers School of IT Management Case Competition

The Ted Rogers School of IT Management (ITM) Case Competition is an annual business case competition open to all undergraduate students in the Ted Rogers School at Ryerson University. The Competition requires student teams to analyze a business case that deals with some aspect of Information Technology in business and society, prepare a formal presentation, and be evaluated by a panel of CIO Association judges.

The Competition enables students to apply the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom to a real business problem, and to gain a real-world perspective based on feedback they receive from the judges who are all senior IT professionals. The feedback, provided both formally during competition and informally over lunch, is regarded by students as one of the greatest benefits to participating in the competition. The winning team is eligible to represent Ryerson at the International CaseIT competition held annually in Vancouver at Simon Fraser University.
