CIOCAN is the only association dedicated exclusively to Chief Information Officers and senior IT executives. CIOCAN was established nationally in 2004, and currently has chapters in Vancouver (1998 – started as CIOABC), Ontario (2006), Edmonton (2009), Calgary (2010), Ottawa (2013), Manitoba (2014), CISO Division (2017) and Montreal (2020). CIOCAN members from other areas of Canada are served by the National Chapter.

Chapters tailor activities to meet the needs of local members. Chapters elect their own presidents and boards of directors, they host their own live networking and professional development events, they decide on local advocacy initiatives and they select and co-create local programs for advancing the profession and the IT industry in partnership with regional business, government and education agencies.

CIO Association chapter presidents are members of the national board of directors, where they help shape Canada-wide policy and direction. Chapter board members sit on several national committees to provide input on national programs and services, and to ensure alignment among national and chapter initiatives.

Plans to establish chapters in other communities are in progress. If you are interested in forming a chapter in your area, contact us.
