CaseIT comment from Jories Timmers
CaseIT comment from Jories Timmers
As a founding sponsor of the CaseIT competition, the CIO Association of Canada, Vancouver Chapter, is proud to be involved once again in this world-class event - our 7th year! We’ve watched this event grow from local to national and now to an international competition that attracts some of the world’s brightest students in IT management disciplines. CaseIT has become so well respected and popular that there is now a competition just to get in!
The career path to CIO is golden - and it doesn't stop there. We have growing evidence that the qualities that make an excellent CIO are well-matched with qualities that make an excellent CEO. To make it to the top, you need leadership skills in all areas of the business: the ability to work with people and build effective teams, be creative in the development and execution of business strategy, and effectively communicate ideas in bottom-line terms. CaseIT puts all these to the test.
Each year it is a privilege to meet the diverse and talented teams of competitors, and it is impressive to witness the professionalism and passion of CaseIT’s student organizers in action.
We consider our sponsorship of CaseIT a solid investment in the future – we’re helping groom the next generation of CIOs. As the global recession winds down, shortages in IT labor pools worldwide will re-emerge as a critical business and national productivity issue. We all need people like the CaseIT competitors in our futures.
Past student competitors report that participation in CaseIT is high-pressure, challenging, exhilarating, and fun. Doing well earns the team and the school yearlong bragging rights – well deserved.
We look forward to CaseIT 2011, and to many more years of affiliation.
