Ontario Live Event: Web 2.0, Collaboration and Social Media: Beyond the Hype
Our event on December 3rd: “Web 2.0, Collaboration and Social Media: Beyond the Hype” and is intended to be a build on previous events that have introduced the topic and featured a number of guest presentations. This event is aimed to be more of a ‘practitioners guide’ and will take the format of a moderated panel discussion where panel members will present the CIO or senior executive view of what constitutes success in the practical application of Web 2.0, Collaboration and Social Media.

Speakers:
1) Nabil Harfoush, CIO, VP Corporate Development, Helpcaster
Nabil is currently serving as the CIO and VP Corporate Development of HelpCaster Technologies, a Toronto based company delivering web customer interaction management solutions in a SaaS model. Prior to that he served as the CIO of MedcomSoft and Nightingale Informatix, two publicly traded companies offering clinical management and electronic medical record solutions delivered in traditional and SaaS models.
Nabil's professional expertise is built on over 35 years of practice as an engineer, technology executive, and corporate officer. He has consulted for enterprises, national governments, and international organization including the World Bank, W.H.O., UNESCO, and the International Development Research Center.
Nabil has a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. suma cum laude in digital data communications from Germany. He is also a graduate of the Executive Development Program of the Schulich School of Business (York University).
Nabil regularly volunteers with community organizations such as the Canadian Centre for Diversity and the International Development & Relief Foundation. He is a mentor in the CATA Women in Technology program and is a co-founder of the Canadian Dawn Foundation, a charitable organization focused on grass-roots education. His current interests are in business and social implications of technology, social entrepreneurship, and all things related to information.
2) Bobby Singh, Director, Information Security, eHealth Ontario
Mr. Bobby Singh has 16 plus years experience in IT security with extensive experience in risk management, business operations, public relations, consulting and auditing. As head of Information Security for eHealth Ontario where his responsibilities includes regulatory compliance, risk management, control process definition and measurement, and the deployment of CobiT control objectives and ISO standards. Additionally, he is responsible for information security operations, disaster recovery and business continuity co-ordination across the organization. He has a proven track record of establishing high assurance governance processes, reliable operational risk assessment and audits, sound project management and effective delivery of complex projects and reliable services. Mr. Singh’s role involves ensuring that security is built-in both at the organization-level and to eHO products and services. He provides leadership in the development and promotion of security standards and practices within eHO and in the healthcare sector in the province of Ontario. He plays the role of integrator across the organization and has the ability to drive initiatives through multiple departments and business units. He has the maturity and judgment necessary to contribute at a high level to strategic planning and corporate decision making processes. Mr. Singh has broad experience developing and implementing security programs for public and private sector organizations. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and round tables. Prior to joining eHO, Mr. Singh has held positions at Bank of America and Deloitte were he focused on delivering security services to clients and developing their security practice. Mr. Singh received his MBA from University of Pittsburgh and holds CISSP, CISM, CISA and CPA designations.
3) John Sutherland, President, ennova
John Sutherland has over 25 years experience in developing new businesses and consulting with companies on how to unleash the revenue potential that exists within their firm. Since 1994 John has facilitated hundreds of market creation/differentiation workshops to Senior Management in grocery/retail, furniture, manufacturing, telecommunications, publishing, financial services, travel, office-equipment, property management, health care, IT, energy, and pharmaceuticals industries. These techniques include: customer experience walking, changing behaviour via 3 Do’s, 5C criteria for business development, benefit hierarchies, frictionless
growth, naturally embedded value, and idea markets.
John earned his M.B.A. at the Richard Ivey School of Business and also received a B.Sc. (Genetics/Computer Science) from McGill University. He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
4) Kyle Reid, CEO, Deep Calibre
Kyle’s current focus is overseeing the breakout, Toronto and Los Angeles based Interactive Agency – Deep Caliber. There he strategically drives and positions the agency on the scene of emerging online trends and technologies that are daring businesses towards a future that is both imaginative and social.
With widespread experience in client service, strategy and operations, Kyle founded Deep Caliber in 2005 and has participated actively in new business, company operations and led client teams for the Bank of Montréal, Universal Pictures, Toshiba and more. Regardless of whether he's leading an account or leading operations for Deep Caliber, Kyle has always been a clear company driver.
When not at the office he still finds time to passionately speak at the University of Toronto, Ryerson University and industry events about what’s next in the Interactive Advertising world.
