The CIO Association of Canada has appointed Philippe Johnston, CIO for the Social Sciences Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences Engineering Research Council (NSERC) as its new Ottawa Chapter President, effective immediately. Regarding his appointment, Johnston says “I am very proud to assume the duties of the President of the Ottawa Chapter.  The Ottawa region has such a proud history of developing Information Management and Technology innovation within the Hi-Tech sector as well as developing a modern digital government presence to deliver key services to Canadians.”

Philippe takes over the reins from Cindy Cripps-Prawak, who has held led the chapter for the past 2 years. Commenting on her term, Cindy says “It has been a pleasure to serve as the President of the Ottawa chapter for the last two years. I have benefitted from a rich and diverse national professional network and participated in the annual CIO Peer Forum.”

National Board President Humza Teherany said “I would like to personally thank Cindy for her enthusiastic leadership as Ottawa chapter president. With a strong focus on technology from our Federal minister, I am also looking forward to working with Philippe Johnston as the incoming president as we seek to explore new opportunities for the Association.”
