The CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN) is pleased to announce the election of a chapter president for Manitoba.
The Manitoba Chapter is pleased to welcome Kent Smith, Partner and Consulting CIO at ourCIO. Kent was a founding member of the Manitoba Chapter and has participated on the board since its inception. “I’m most excited to be assuming this role at a time where our profession is truly moving toward further strategic and transformational leadership,” says Smith. “It’s an exciting time to contribute toward the growth of IT leaders and the profession.”
Kent Smith along with Ross Ballendine, Peter Holowka and Kyoko Kobayashi will be elected to the National Board as chapter representatives at the Annual General Meeting in October. Philippe Johnston, President, who has led the association for the past two years is thrilled with these additions to the board. Philippe says, “Each one of these incoming chapter presidents has been a dedicated and an active member within the association and in developing the CIO profession in Canada. Their cumulative knowledge and demonstrated leadership will be a great asset to the board as we continue to grow and evolve.”
Philippe also wishes to recognize the significant contributions of the outgoing presidents: Raj Perumal for Manitoba along with Helen Knight (Calgary), Dianne Lapierre (Vancouver) and Jonathan Landon (Toronto). “Thanks to the diligent efforts of our outgoing chapter presidents, the association has grown to almost 500 members. Their guidance has helped us improve our operations and governance to equip us for a bright future.”

L’Association des CIO du Canada (CIOCAN) a le plaisir d’annoncer l’élection d’un président du chapitre de Manitoba.
Le chapitre du Manitoba est heureux d’accueillir Kent Smith, associé et CIO consultant chez ourCIO. Kent est un membre fondateur de la section du Manitoba et participe au conseil d’administration depuis sa création. “Je suis très enthousiaste à l’idée d’assumer ce rôle à un moment où notre profession s’oriente véritablement vers un leadership stratégique et transformationnel plus poussé”, déclare Kent Smith. “C’est un moment passionnant pour contribuer à la croissance des dirigeants informatiques et de la profession.”
Kent Smith ainsi que Ross Ballendine, Peter Holowka et Kyoko Kobayashi seront élus au Conseil national en tant que représentants des sections lors de l’assemblée générale annuelle en octobre. Philippe Johnston, président, qui a dirigé l’association au cours des deux dernières années, est ravi de ces ajouts au conseil. Philippe dit : “Chacun de ces nouveaux présidents de section a été un membre dévoué et actif au sein de l’association et dans le développement de la profession de CIO au Canada. Leurs connaissances cumulées et leur leadership démontré seront un grand atout pour le conseil alors que nous continuons à croître et à évoluer.”
Philippe souhaite également reconnaître les contributions importantes du président sortant : Raj Perumal pour le Manitoba ainsi que Helen Knight (Calgary), Dianne Lapierre (Vancouver) et Jonathan Landon (Toronto). “Grâce aux efforts diligents des présidents sortants de nos sections, l’association a atteint près de 500 membres. Leurs conseils nous ont permis d’améliorer nos opérations et notre gouvernance afin de nous équiper pour un avenir brillant.”
