CIO Hall of Fame Announces Newest Members

The pandemic took second stage during the culmination of ITWC’s Digital Transformation Week program as veteran technology visionaries assembled to induct four industry leaders into the CIO Hall of Fame on July15, 2021.

The 2021 CIO of the Year Award winners are:

  • Private Sector: Ricardo Costa, Chief Information Officer, Purolator,
  • Public Sector: Mari Teitelbaum, CIO & VP Strategy, Quality & Family Partnership, The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario
  • Not for Profit: Jennifer Quaglietta, VP, Performance Excellence and Information Services, Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada
  • Next Generation Leader: Rita Lazar-Tippe, Director Insights, AI, Innovation and IT for the Alberta Pension Services Corporation

“The CIO of the Year Awards recognize Canadian technology change makers who demonstrate business and technological vision and a capacity to drive enterprise transformation,” said ITWC CIO Jim Love. “This year’s winners exemplify the impact of positioning organizations to meet today’s digital challenges.”

Love participated in an independent judging panel that selected award recipients from dozens of submissions from across the country. “In all cases, these digital leaders have gone above and beyond to innovate operations and drive efficiencies,” said event emcee and judge Philippe Johnston, President, CIO Association of Canada. “What’s especially impressive is that they have all done it during a global pandemic.”

The CIO of the Year awards program is presented by ITWC in partnership with the CIO Association of Canada. In addition to induction into the CIO Hall of Fame, winners receive a one-year membership in the Canadian CIO Association and a six-month subscription to IDC on Demand, a consulting service that offers live guidance through IDC research and assets on critical priorities.
