CISO of the Year

The 2025 CanadianCIO of the Year Awards recognize Canadian technology leaders who have demonstrated business and technological vision, entrepreneurship, a capacity to drive enterprise transformation, and a demonstrated ability to propel value in the marketplace. There are three parts to the 2025 nomination process. Please note incomplete nominations will not move forward in the judging process.

The nominator must provide two letters of recommendation attesting to the nominees’ accomplishments. The letters are integral to the judges’ decision-making process and preferably a least one of the two letters comes from within the nominee’s own organization as opposed to a vendor of the organization.
The nominator must complete the form below with the information that details the nominee’s accomplishments and the context in which they were achieved.
The CanadianCIO of the Year Awards will be presented in Toronto, Ontario, in October 2025. Award recipients must be present in person to participate in the celebration!

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

Be a CIO or hold an equivalent senior IT leadership role.
Work for a Canadian company or have a primary office located in Canada.

Additional Nominee Information

1. Successful CISOs must be able to understand and adapt their organizations to the ever changing cyber-security landscape. Please describe the organization the nominee serves and the particular challenge or opportunity that the nominee confronted (200 words max). *

2. Successful CISOs foster strong executive leadership and prioritize stakeholder engagement. Please describe how the nominee demonstrates top management support and sensitivity to stakeholder needs within their organization and leads the way with positive impacts (300 words max.) *

3. Information security and risk management are critical elements of CISO effective leadership. How does the nominee exhibit a commitment to these practices within their organization for sustainable capability improvements? (300 words max.) *

4. Continuous improvement is at the core of CISO leadership excellence. How does the nominee demonstrate a commitment to ongoing cybersecurity enhancements and innovation within their organization and the industry at large (200 words max.) *
