Reporting directly to the EVP of Finance, Technology and Supply Chain and Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Information Officer leads the team responsible for the planning, design, delivery, and operations of all information technology and several operational technology systems across the enterprise. It provides technology leadership and oversight across BC Hydro, is responsible for selecting appropriate technology solutions to deliver strong business outcomes and oversees and protects the company from cybersecurity risks. The CIO works collaboratively with the Executive Team and business groups and owns a multi-year strategy that supports BC Hydro in meeting its service plan and 5-year strategy objectives through prioritizing and optimizing investments, delivering outcomes early and often and leveraging future technology. Cybersecurity is a top priority for BC Hydro, and it continues to build its capabilities in order to respond to the ever-increasing threats meaning a significant focus of this role will be on cybersecurity. Attacks against the energy sector have increased dramatically around the globe and pose significant risk to the electric power infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is an executive-level leader bringing a wealth of experience gained in a large scale, complex, multi-stakeholder organization. They have deep experience in building, leading and managing a complex technology operation. A demonstrated track record of success in a senior management/leadership role, leading information and operational technology and business initiatives that support the organization’s vision, mission and strategic priorities. Additionally, they are a strategic business technology leader with a strong customer service focus and a deep understanding of the importance and value of technology and how it is leveraged to deliver on business objectives.
