Funding and Tax Breaks Critical to Digital Adoption, Successful Commercialization of Innovation

The CIO Association of Canada is undertaking two initiatives to help fuel Digital Adoption, which in turn contributes to the successful commercialization of innovation, (one of the themes of this year’s CIO Peer Forum). First, we are hosting a live Toronto Chapter event June 5 at the Microsoft Offices in Mississauga on the SR & ED Program, featuring senior CRA directors Lucie Bergevin and Helen Marquis, and Senior VP of Tax, Finance and Advocacy at CATAlliance, Russ Roberts.


Cyber Security: State of the Art Advice

The last 18 months of headlines are not just a rough patch for organizations regarding cyber-crime. They are a sign of escalating threats and new tactics deployed by cyber-criminals. Need proof? Cyber security as a risk issue moved to the top 3 risk factors faced by businesses on the Lloyds of London Risk Index for 2013. That’s quite a jump from it’s 12th place standing only 2 years ago.

At a recent CIO Association Toronto Chapter meeting we were fortunate to have Lib Gibson, Adjunct Professor in the Strategic Management area, Scott Campbell, a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada and a former CIO for the Ontario Government, and our own Dave Codack talk about the CIO and IT from the perspective the Board of Directors.
